How to Calibrate Gimbal in Mini 4 pro?

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is known for its compact design and high-quality footage. However, if you're noticing tilted horizons or shaky footage, your gimbal may need calibration. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to calibrate the gimbal, what causes misalignment, and what to do if calibration doesn’t help.

Why Gimbal Calibration is Important

Gimbal calibration ensures your drone’s camera stays stable and level during flight. Misaligned gimbals can cause:

- Crooked or tilted videos

- Unstable or jerky camera movement

- Poor image quality during motion

What Can Cause Gimbal Issues?

Here are the most common reasons you might experience gimbal problems:

1. Physical Impact or Crash

Even minor crashes can disturb the internal gimbal alignment.

2. Electromagnetic Interference

Calibrating or flying near power lines, vehicles, or heavy electronics can affect the sensors.

3. Improper Storage or Transport

Transporting your drone without a gimbal guard can cause unnecessary pressure or movement.

4. Uneven Takeoff Surface

Calibrating on soft or slanted surfaces (like grass or rocks) can affect alignment.

5. Firmware Bugs

Outdated or corrupt firmware might cause unexpected gimbal behavior.

How to Calibrate the Gimbal

Follow these steps to perform a gimbal calibration using the DJI Fly App:

Step 1: Power On

Turn on your DJI Mini 4 Pro and remote controller. Connect to the drone via the DJI Fly app.

Step 2: Open Gimbal Settings

- Tap the hree dots (•••) in the top-right corner.

- Navigate to Control > Gimbal Calibration.

Step 3: Auto Calibrate

- Tap Auto Calibrate Gimbal.

- Place the drone on a flat, stable surface.

- Wait for calibration to finish (usually under 60 seconds).

Step 4: Manually Adjust (Optional)

If the horizon is still slightly off, go to Adjust Gimbal Roll and fine-tune it manually.

Troubleshooting & Extra Tips

- Restart the drone after calibration for best results.

- Check for debris in the gimbal area.

- Update the firmware via DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2.

- Reset settings if the gimbal continues to behave abnormally.
